Spiritual Retreat In Vigo (Spain) in September with Swami Purohit
Swami Purohit will visit the Galician city of Vigo this september, to hold a Spiritual Retreat from the 19th to the 22nd. Under the title "LIVING WITH INTEGRITY AND CLARITY", Sri Swami Purohit will address two moral values which are essential to understand, assimilate and integrate in our lives. One could never exist without the other.
TWO ESSENTIAL MORAL VALUES: INTEGRITY
Defined as "moral strength", integrity means carrying out the agreements and promises we make to ourselves and to others. It is about being honest with oneself and firm in our actions. Do not negotiate with the promises that you have made.
Personal integrity is about acting from the heart and taking the path of our own "truth". It means doing what we consider to be the right thing, not what is expected of us. When we break a promise or go back on a decision we have made, we inevitably lose trust, trust in ourselves and the trust placed in us by those around us.
TWO ESSENTIAL MORAL VALUES: CLARITY
When we are lacking clarity, we study options without ever making a decision. Or we will make a decision but question it continually afterwards. Both these options cause us to be in a state of conflict. Clarity is defined as "An abundance of light" or "A distinction that allows us to perceive sensations via our senses, and ideas via our inteligence." Clarity is the use of our ability to think and reason in order to understand a particular situation, choose the most practical option and implement it efficiently. Therefore: By living with integrity we manage to maintain the most valuable things: freedom and dignity. As a direct result, we will obtain clarity, which will allow us to choose the right path.
In this Retreat Swami Purohit will teach us how to develop integrity and clarity and how to use both of these moral attributes to guide us in life. The retreat may include some simple yoga and breathing exercises. No experience is needed.
THE RETREAT
The Retreat is carried out in conexion with nature, a reasonable distance away from the city so that the bustle of daily life doesn't affect the participants. The natural
environment and the silence facilitate the concentration and relaxation necessary for the Retreat. Participants arrive on the Thursday, in the afternoon, and are shown their rooms. Swamiji will give and introductory talk about the content of the Retreat which will be followed by a short, but powerful, meditation, which brings this first session of the Retreat to a close. Afrter this, dinner is served.
Each day after sunrise, all the participants meet with Swamiji in the main hall where the day is begun with yoga and meditation, guided, as always, by Swamiji. After breakfast, the teaching beings. Depending on the subject we are dealing with, Swamiji will guide us so that each and every one of us can delve into the matter in a way which will allow us to work individually after each session. After the morning is over, we will have a longer break for the (vegetarian) lunch and some time to rest. During this time you can do whatever you prefer, but we recommend resting as much as possible. That way, not only do you integrate what you have learned, but you will be ready for the afternoon session. We will continue with the teachings, exercises and meditation at around 5pm. We tend to take a brief break mid afternoon, and maybe have some tea, to then continue the session until dinner time.
No previous experience is needed to attend the Retreat. However, we politely request that particpants inform us of anything we need to take into consideration (medical conditions etc), in order to adapt the course if necessary.
During the 4 days of the retreat, Swamiji will teach us exercises or techniques that are directly related to the topics in question. Thus, we understand that taking part in a retreat is not just about escaping from our daily life; we don't intend to be absent, but to find the way of being truly present. The exercises are focused on this, so that when we practice them daily, they allow us to harmonise contemplative life with our everyday life. In all of our Retreats you will find a way to change your life.
